Purchases & Refunds

Last updated

Some of our apps and games are paid or offer in-app purchases, subscriptions or virtual items. This page explains how those purchases work and how to get a refund. It supplements section 7 of our Terms of Use. Nothing here limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer in your country.

1. Who processes your purchase

We do not take payments directly and never see your card or bank details. Every purchase is made through the app store that distributed the product, under that store's terms:

  • Google Play (Android): purchases are governed by the Google Play Terms of Service and charged to your Google account's payment method.
  • Apple App Store (iPhone and iPad): purchases are governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and charged to your Apple Account.
  • Other stores (for example Samsung Galaxy Store, Huawei AppGallery or Amazon Appstore): the equivalent terms of that store apply.
  • Web apps and websites: if we ever sell anything directly on the web, the checkout provider and the refund terms will be shown before you pay.

Prices include applicable taxes where the store shows them that way, may vary by country and currency, and may change. The price displayed by the store at the moment you confirm the purchase is the one that applies.

2. Refunds

Because the stores process payments, refunds are also handled by them, and their policies decide whether a refund is granted. In short:

Where a store leaves the decision to the developer, or where the store asks us, we will refund purchases that were made by mistake, that did not work as described, or where a product was withdrawn, provided you contact us within 14 days of the purchase and the content has not been substantially consumed. We may decline refunds for virtual currency or items that have already been used, and for repeated requests that look like abuse. Refunds, when granted, go back to the original payment method through the store and can take several days to appear.

3. Subscriptions

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date through the store (Google Play: Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions; Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Uninstalling an app does not cancel a subscription. Cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current period unless the store's policy or your local law says otherwise. Free trials, where offered, convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.

4. Restoring purchases

Purchases are tied to the store account that made them. If you reinstall an app, switch devices or clear its data, sign in with the same store account and use the "Restore purchases" option in the app's settings or store screen. If a purchase does not restore, confirm the account you are signed in to, check the store's purchase history (Google Play, Apple), then contact us with the order number shown in your store receipt (not your card details) and we will help.

5. Virtual items and discontinued products

Virtual currency and items have no monetary value, cannot be transferred or cashed out, and are licensed for use in the product only. If we discontinue a product or feature, we will give reasonable notice where possible; unused virtual items may be lost, and any refund is at the discretion of the store and us, except where the law requires it.

6. Contact

Questions about a purchase: [email protected]. Include the app or game name, the store, the order number from your receipt and the date. We usually reply within 2 to 3 business days. Please never send card numbers, passwords or full bank details by email.
